Project365: Day 7 - January 7
Title: Roadway's End: An Explanation
Why "Roadway's End" for the name of a photography page? I'm a road geek. There are actually a lot of us around, there are Facebook groups and the like, such as Freeway Jim.
I've always been fascinated by roads. Their design. The materials used to make the surface. The lines. I think they make good photography subjects, when viewed from the ground or close to it, as in the image here. This is downtown Whiteville at about 3 o'clock in the morning, taken back over the summer.
On the Facebook page I've been building a collection of road images, "The Ground-Based Perspective of Rural Roads Collection." Yes, I'm weird. But the pics have been fairly popular. Some are not-so-rural roads and capturing the image is a bit tricky and somewhat dangerous.
When I was trying to come up with a name for my photography gig, a friend of mine told me since I enjoy taking pictures of roads, to name it Road's End photography. Unfortunately "Road's End Photography" is already taken... but "Roadway's End" was not.
And in June 2020, "Roadway's End Photography" was born.
Mundane things, like roads for instance, can be interesting if you allow them to be so, and take a look at them from a different perspective. Just open your eyes and see the world from a different point of view.
One day I picked up a camera. And discovered this is pretty awesome.
